Description

Phillips 66 note reads: The clean up job of Ted's was really sad and hurried, as people were in such dire need of fuel and someone to fix flats, as it was impossible to drive around town without sustaining a flat. Ted had just prepared for a tire sale, and received a whole station full of tires, they found them scattered all over for two miles. The flood tore away the garage lift doors, these had to be replaced. The gas pumps were literally smashed flat (2) The other two were completely washed away, and have never been found. The small sign washed to Valley Bank lot, turning the bank into a service station. The bulk plant out behind is badly cracked and will have to be replaced. All inside equipment was washed away. Volunteer workers and family cleaned night and day for two weeks, to get the top layer of muck cleaned away. The Pop machine was out back as well as a dead cow, a watch, a ring, and a piano that came from who knows where. All exterior lights had to be replaced, fencing replaced, new pumps, new doors, frames, windows and of course new signs.
