Teton Dam Scrapbook Thompson'sDescription
Thompson's note reads:
The front of the store does not look like it sustained much damage, the inside of the store was a total wreck. The back entry was filled with logs and debris, and of course tons of mud and slime from heaven only knows where. The service Dept. is in a separate building about 12 feet from the back door of the main store, so the logs and mess was right at their door also.
The Service Dept. of Thompson Sporting Goods is located directly North of the store. The logs and debris were washed in from a Lumber Co. located a few blocks North of Thompson Sports Service. Note boat sitting on top of debris.
Many new and used motor bikes, boats, etc. were washed completely away from this service area in back of the store.
It took twenty-two men, along with heavy equipment, working for three weeks and long hours to move what you see in photographs.
The picture shows only a small portion of what was there covering a block area in rear of the store.
A great deal of man-power came from Volunteer help from the L.D.S. Church or we would still be cleaning up today, there was that much mud.
