Teton Dam Scrapbook Vern & FerrellsDescription
Vern & Ferrell's has a newspaper clipping on the back. The note reads:
Water broke and came in two large plate glass windows in front of the store. It couldn't get out the back entrance, so it turned and went out the way it came in. Depositing two feet of mud, silt, manure, pesticides, diesel oil, etc. throughout the store. It pulled clothes from racks and shelves, broke displays, counters, and shelving. It ruined all merchandise beyond repair or reconditioning. It was necessary to remove everything from the store. We had to replace wooden flooring and completely redecorate and restock the store.
640 man hours from volunteer groups from the LDS Church helped remove carpet, pad, and flooring and just assisted in general clean-up of the whole store.
1,238 man hours of non-professional help in clean-up and restoration of fixtures and general repair. We were out of business for 70 days, reopening in mid-August.
