Teton Dam Scrapbook Viking MotelDescription
Viking Motel note reads:
The bottom units of the Viking Motel were virtually destroyed during the June 5th flood. All furniture and carpet had to be replaced, along with general damaged doors. With so many people needing accommodations we began renting all the top units as soon as were again supplied with water and power. However we could not furnish maid service and these people had to do all their own maid work. The water subsided from the rooms, but all the mud and debris had to be hand shoveled out to the parking lot.
Very recently many of the shrubs had to be replaced and new bark placed all around the planters. The water washed away all of our labors, leaving only a few shrubs and a rose here and there. Approximately 12 volunteers worked a good 12 hours a day until the building was in condition for the carpenters to begin the repairs. Tractors and trucks were used to haul away the garbage and we hired a high pressure truck to clean the mud from the parking lot.
