Description

Romance/ Westwood Theater note reads: An extensive remodeling project on the Westwood Theater was temporarily halted after the Teton Dam Flood, because of damage sustained from the Flood. The theater had been closed for about 2 months and about 30% of the planned changes had been accomplished at the time of the flood. The main projects in the remodeling included: 1. Converting space formerly rented as a beauty Salon into new restroom facilities. 2. Redesigning and expanding the lobby. 3. Redesigning seating plan in auditorium for added space between rows. 4. Laying a new floor. 5. Enclosing area behind screen to conserve heat. 6. Installing Sound Fold in auditorium for better accoustics. 7. Replacing old machines with latest in projection equipment. 8. Installing "waterfall" curtains over screen. 9. Refinishing walls inside and out with paint or wall covering. 10. Adding a more attractive face and marquee to the building. 11. Recarpeting. 12. New Sound System. Because of the extensive cleaning and structural repair after the flood, reopening was delayed 5 months until January 1977. A close estimate of man-hours spent in both remodeling and cleanup efforts is 9,400 hours.
