Interior of Destroyed BuildingDescription
This photo shows an interior or a building. At the top of the photo is an open door and stairs leading up to a higher floor. It's difficult to tell if this is a residence or a business. It looks like the door opens onto a landing, and judging from the paneling on the wall, further stairs led down to a lower floor. These stairs and the lower floor are missing, broken up by the flood and littering the basement floor. Along the back wall of this structure is another staircase that survived, and which leads from a floor no longer there to the basement full of debris. To the right of this structure we can see either over a divider or into another building's basement, indicating perhaps that this is a business and this might be the basement of a next door basement. On the front of the photo in the margin, in blue pencil it's written "Johnsons". This photo is 8x10". This photo comes from the old Standard Journal Warehouse located at 23 S 1st E.
