Painted Fire Hydrant in Flood Damaged YardDescription
This B&W photo shows people cleaning up in a muddy yard after the flood. In the foreground is a fire hydrant, also covered in mud, but with a painted face. Behind this is mud and water and churned up soil. In the background are trees & a house. Outside of the house are two men and a woman cleaning up. The woman, the furthest left of the three figures, is squatting in front of some appliances that have been taken out of the house - possibly a washing machine and other items: shelves, tables, etc. In the middle of the photo a man is walking towards the woman, carrying what might be a shovelful of dirt. Behind him, to the right is a man with a baseball cap picking up a wheelbarrow. To the right of this man is a table with various objects on it. Between this and the fire hydrant is a large vehicle with huge tires. This photo is 7.5x9.25". This photo comes from the old Standard Journal Warehouse located at 23 S 1st E.
