NORFOLK AND WESTERN LOCOMOTIVE NO. 2156, presented to the National Museum of Transport at Barretts Station in St. Louis, Missouri, by the Norfolk and Western Railway, is one of the world's largest and most powerful steam locomotives. It is 115 feet long and, with its tender in working order, weights almost one million pounds. Known as the "work horse" of the railroad, the locomotive represents the highest point of development and efficiency for the steam type. No. 2156 is one of twenty-seven historic steam, electric, and diesel-electric locomotives preserved at the Museum.Created By
