The last of the Water Division's fleet of street cars were saved from the scrap heap yesterday and will be preserved for future generations by the Museum of Transport.
Old No. 10 and 11, two of the fancy cars which carried employes and sightseers to and from Bissell's Point and the Chain of Rocks water works, were to be burned and the metal scrapped yesterday, but Dr. John P. Roberts, museum president, heard about it.
He made a few quick phone calls and reminded city officials that negotiations were in progress for the cars, which had been retired after the line was abandoned in 1955. The order was rescinded and negotiations will be resumed to get the cars out to the museum on Barrett Station road, Kirkwood.Language
