The iconic champagne glass pyramid and the art deco clamshell design provided the graphic inspiration for the Roaring Twenties theme, while the work of Amy Pabst and her miniature log cabin quilts provided the construction inspiration for the tradition block.
When I started planning this project, I had just recently finished reading Amy’s book and making my first miniature foundation-pieced log cabin quilt. I was ready to start another one, so I decided to draft my own Curved Log Cabin foundation pattern and see if I could create the champagne glasses and clamshells simply by manipulating the color placement and rotating or mirroring some of the blocks.
I used the Electric Quilt program to create my design and print my foundations. The use of shot cotton and iridescent sequins (champagne bubbles) provide addition interest and sparkle as the quilt is viewed from different angles.
