Martha was named after my great grandmother. The 1920s was her time period, when she was young! Jazz music was born in the 1920s, that inspired me to create the piano keyboard and the saxophone. Martha is a 1920s flapper dancing and listening to Jazz music!

Note

Martha, the keyboard, the saxophone and the letters were all created using a double sided fusible web technique. Then they all were attached and sewn on by hand with embroidery thread. The background of the quilt was free motion quilted on the sewing machine. Martha's dress has sequins on it that was hand sewn on. Then Martha and the saxophone are decorated with embellishments.
