“Marilyn and I love working in silk, so when I found the green and earth tone Dupioni silks that went so well with an antique silk brocade I’d been saving for something special, I knew this was ‘it.’ As the design came together, it began to take on a medieval look—Sherwood Forest comes to mind—but I added the appliqué flowers and leaves to soften the angularity. Marilyn designed unique quilting patterns that could be overlaid on the Compass piecing, to create a three-dimensional layered and gold lace look.”
