Artist Commentary

Label

"What I hope to achieve with the artistry of my quiltmaking is to convey successfully, through the use of shapes abstracted from nature, my love and fascination with color and cloth. Underlying the bold, large scale graphic nature of my work is my use of colors that have both seasonal connotations and cultural undertones. I hope I have mastered this aspect of my art well enough that it shoes in my work. Because I consider myself an artist, I want those who see my work to feel my joy and sense of happiness. To a lesser degree, I want people to see my love of cloth and my respect for the traditional quilts that covered our beds long before they graced our walls."
