My inspiration for my Roaring Twenties quilt was the words that were used to describe this special era in our history. This quilt contains 1,801 pieced blocks which nods to the extravagance of the era. The color that range from black to pink heralds the end of WW1 and the beginning of a time of growth and happiness. The traditional 9-Patch Block heralds the wood floors used in the dance ballrooms of the time upon which many a Charleston was danced. Prohibition; is reflected in the martini glasses. Dance in the Jazz Age is reflected by the introduction of the flapper. Freedom: An era in which Women achieved the right to vote, and the Flapper depicted a woman free to cut her hair and dress provocatively, And of Course, the piano in the quilt is a nod to the JAZZ music of the time.
