"This quilt is from the series of Stratifications. In this abstract series of my work I like to play with three dimensional structures of the surface. I was fascinated by the stratifications in a stone quarry and an old copper mine.
I grew up at my aunt a tailor working for Paris couture where I learned all about sewing. I studied visual arts (painting and graphic). In 2000 most of my artistic work was burned and I stopped painting. I came in contact with textile art and quilting in 2008 while visiting an exhibition and found that quilts would be a wonderful combination of my love for painting and sewing. In winter 2008/9 I bought me a book about quilting and started. My third quilt was accepted to prestigious European Quilt Triennale 2009 in Heidelberg. From that I decided to work with quilts and textile. One part of my work is dedicated to people whose story is told by free motion machine stitched figures with black thread on a whole cloth quilt with colored applications or painted backgrounds. The other part of my work is dominated by structures, created by inserted objects, fabric manipulation and embroidery. These abstract works like
“Copper” are influenced by natural phenomena and includes textile sculptures. I exhibit my work worldwide and have won several awards. Sometimes I like to teach my ideas and techniques of quilting."
