Constructed at the end of the 1920’s, the Chrysler Building is the prime example of art deco architecture and stands as a symbol for the impact design philosophy had on an entire decade. What better — when inspired by the theme of the “Roaring Twenties” — than to centrally feature this architectural and cultural achievement. As a decade known for its shape and colour, in spite of its ending in heavy depression, my concept is rooted in the symbolism — and aesthetic — reminiscent of a bygone era.
As the daughter of a 2nd generation quilter, I have long been inspired by my mother, aunts and grandmothers and their beautiful quilts and so this, my very first quilt, is dedicated to them.
