“The exotic proteas in a verdigris vase was inspired by one just as lovely in the home of my house-hostess, Beryl Healy, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. My 1992 trip to South Africa was sponsored by the Dias Quilters Guild for their bi-annual National Quilt Show. Proteas are indigenous to South Africa, and they were in full bloom across the countryside in glorious color. I designed this wall-hanging as a remembrance, not that I needed one, from this exceptional experience.”
