"Big Bang is my epiphany quilt, the one that forever changed how I think about designing quilts. Its also the first quilt in the style for which I have become known. In this quilt, I wanted it to look like two stars were colliding. I already knew how to make the stars, but creating motion in the background was a big challenge. The only way I could think to create motion was to use fabrics radiating from light to dark as they were more distant from the star. This also was the first time I had incorporated a holistic approach to the overall design, where the central focus, the background, and the borders are all intertwined. It took about two years to create this quilt."
