"After recovering from two different surgeries, I decided to pull out some of the fabric scraps from a large quilt I had been working on. Adding some new fabric, and discarding some of the old, I was ready to make 'Black-Eyed Susan.' I made the quilt to please myself and no one else. It was my way of healing both mentally and physically.
This quilt was computer drafted from scratch. The fan units were paper pieced from scraps and new fabrics to create a full spectrum of light, medium, and dark values against a deep saturated red. Using homemade templates, the curved edges were appliquéd in place. The black-eyed Susans were free-motion stitched for exactness."
