"Every year, I look forward to peach season. Peaches—sweet, juicy, and lusciously imbued with a flavor like no other. A ripe peach’s skin delivers to the eyes a feast of rich, warm hues. And of course, one cannot overlook that delicate perfume that only these gifts of nature could emit.
As a young woman, I entered a peach pie at the Illinois State Fair. I wish that I could report that my entry won the blue ribbon. It did not. Still, sometimes, baking, like quilting, is as much or more about the journey rather than the destination. Regardless of the endeavor, you always give it your best effort."
