"Buffalo Magic, my first quilt, is an integration of two long-term interests: buffalo and needlework. It was not, initially, the result of any desire to make a quilt. The quilt idea evolved over several summers working as a park naturalist at Badlands National Park where the buffalo, or bison, herd was my primary interest. I regularly led tours, hikes, programs, and wrote articles, sketched and spent hours bison-watching. For me the highlights of quiltmaking are developing ideas, drafting original designs, planning my own layout and playing with possibilities."
