"Food is not just a basic need, but a celebration of life. When paired with music and dance, it becomes an even more personal and joyful experience. My interpretation of this year’s theme “Food!” pays homage to an icon of the silver screen and three icons of the quilting world. Carmen Miranda, the “Brazilian Bombshell”, with her vivacious personality and signature fruit hats, captivated 1940's Hollywood, and my own imagination. She became an instant icon. Alongside her, three legends of the quilting world are represented. The Pineapple block takes center stage with an additional nod to the Orange Peel and Pickle Dish blocks featured in Carmen’s head dress."
