"Quiltmaking has contributed to many areas of my life. Through it I have come to know Mississippi in a very special way--through its people. Quilting has been a common interest without regard to socio-economic boundaries and is so rewarding, and it has caused me to travel to many places and meet many people. As a former librarian, the historical side of quilting is appealing to me. I've read and thought about the connection of quilting to women's lives, both in earlier times and today. In this society of fragmented time, I see my quiltmaking as a reinforcement of the family value of passing on the tradition from one generation to another."
