"I am mostly a self-taught quilter. My first quilt was a six-point (instead of an eight-point) Lone Star because I drafted the pattern wrong. I have learned a lot about drafting since then. Community Barn Raising was made especially for the 1987 AQS Show's theme category: Log Cabin. The Log Cabin blocks are set together in the Barn Raising fashion, tying in the Amish theme. Buggies are appliquéd around the borders, as if they were going to a barn raising. Small silhouettes of farms are placed throughout the hills."
