“Cosmic Parade was the second quilt in the style for which I have become known. In this quilt, I wanted the stars to be static, like the floats in a parade. The largest star in the lower-right corner represents the light of a rising star with others more distant in the background. Typical of many of my more recent quilts, the fractured background features tone-on-tone flying geese that add subtle motion and detail. This was the first time I had ever rounded a corner on a quilt—that was quite liberating. Now many of my quilts lack corners.”
