"It was in the 1970's that I began to notice and appreciate quilts. I had not given much thought to quilts since my childhood, when I had watched both of my grandmothers make quilts. I remember helping them cut the colorful pieces."
"While looking through a magazine, I saw a picture of a very famous and beautiful quilt by Grace Snyder. This inspired me to try making my own Flower Basket quilt. What a challenge for a quilt - to try and create something that even resembled hers would be quite an achievement! Had I known more about the challenges of quiltmaking, I am sure that I would not have tried that particular design! I encountered many problems and almost gave up many times, but my husband and son kept encouraging me to finish it. The top of the quilt is made of over 42,000 pieces of fabric."
