“I have always been intrigued by the skeleton silhouette of trees after all the leaves are gone in winter. Southern Illinois, where I call home, has some incredible winter sunsets. Hues of pinks, oranges, and golds. This was the look I wanted to capture.
This quilt is made in three sections. The tree is needle felted and stitched with many layers of fabric strips. The ground is needle felted with thread work. The sky is my painted vintage tablecloth fabric. There were specific colors I wanted to add for the sunset and I found the perfect colors in the prom dress fabric at my local fabric store.”
