"After trying unsuccessfully to use the colors of the rainbow as the background, I turned to different shadings of one color. Since I do not dye fabrics, it was a challenge finding nine commercial fabrics with an adequate range from light to dark. When the top was finished, my son told me it was good enough to hand quilt and I am thankful that I took his advice.
The pattern name is Indian Hatchet, but the squares are combined in a set that is more reminiscent of a Log Cabin barn raising quilt. The two ideas were combined to give the name, Indian Barn Raising."
