"As a twelve year old, I made my first quilt, a Dresden Plate. I have no idea where it is or what happened to it. I loved to draw, and would sit on the front steps of our home and draw on paper bags or wrappings of any kind. In the late fifties, I was able to attend classes in batik with the late Jim Nordmeyer at the Baker-Hunt Foundation in Covington, Kentucky. Batik is an ancient art form which is close to my heart."
