May Shadows is an original design made by twin sisters, Jean & Joyce. Jean M. Evans, a retired art educator, works with the same energy and commitment when creating original art quilts from her paintings and drawings as her sister. Jean prefers using bold colors, strong contrast, curbed lines, figures, faces and often a subtle sense of humor in her works. Joyce Murrin’s greatest joy in quiltmaking is the challenge, met head on and accomplished. To work in the non-traditional will always be a self-inflicted challenge for her as the artist who won’t compromise the design for ease of sewing and as the technician with the constant challenge of sewing what the artist desires.
