"When I start a new series, I start with the basic element of a technique and then start to add scale - both large and small, how it’s constructed, and the overall visual - vertical, horizontal and diagonal. Here I wanted to balance multiple concepts, incorporating traditional blocks, yet playing on the 3D visual. To do so, the construction became an interesting balance of working from the 'outside-in' for a quilt that has not one horizontal or vertical seam! Everything is built on the diagonal. I enjoy piecing the same color over and over so that the seam becomes an important line in the impact of the quilt."
