"This is my first miniature quilt. I loved the process of figuring out how to make a small version of a tile floor quilt and the problem-solving that went into that process. I guess many people think a miniature takes less time than a full-size quilt, and that is maybe somewhat true, but it also takes more attention to detail. The entire quilt can be viewed at one time without having to have your eyes travel around to different areas. Every single machine quilting stitch needs to be perfect. Any inaccuracies in the piecing will be immediately apparent. I probably re-pieced and re-quilted more sections of this quilt than any other quilt I have made. There is probably more fabric on the inside of the quilt than the outside. The seam allowances for many of the pieces are bigger than the pieces themselves." "Working with black thread on black fabric can be a challenge to the eyes. When I mentioned this difficulty to a friend she suggested that I need to eat more carrots to improve my eyesight. The quilt's name was born."
