Artist Commentary

"I chose to make this quilt because it contains the elements I find most appealing in quilts. It has a strong graphic design of only two colors, complex triangle piecing, and a wonderful quilting design that is heavily trapuntoed. Although the pattern is straight from 1860, the technique is ‘high tech’ with the entire quilt being machine made from the piecing and quilting to the trapunto. For me, quilting combines my love of antique textiles with my skill with the sewing machine. To me, combining antique design with modern methods seems like the best of both worlds."
