"I am always drawn to old textiles for my ideas. This quilt is called 'Palampore.' A palampore is a 'large chintz hanging that could be used either on the wall or on a bed … an anglicized version of the Hindi-Persian palangposh, which means ‘bed-cover’.' From page 15 of “Chinz – Indian Textiles for the West” by Rosemary Crill, V & A Publishing, 2008. These prints were seen as early as the 1700’s. My idea was to interpret this idea in a miniature."

Label

"I have been making miniature quilts for several years. All my life I have enjoyed working on a small scale. I have tiny sweaters I knit for my dolls when I was about ten years old. The control and precision of sewing machines available today allows me to push the limits of how small I am able to do machine applique. I am drawn to the preciousness of miniature objects. I want the viewer to keep coming closer and closer to my creations and feel some of the wonder I have for this itty bitty world. I am still amazed and humbled that my miniatures are awarded such high honors and have great regard for the other wonderful miniature quiltmakers who work in such different methods."
