"This quilt was inspired by an antique quilt made in 1856. I contacted the great-grandson and learned that his great-grandmother had entered it in the fair and won it all. It was just a great quilt and that someone at that time did all the techniques used in the quilt, it really was fantastic. I received permission from the great-grandson to reproduce the quilt. The quilt was hand quilted twice. I first quilted all the feather designs. Then I marked diagonal lines 1/4" apart and quilted those and then quilted down between the rows which made the lines 1/8" apart. My non-quilting friend asked me, 'Is that seersucker fabric?' I said, 'No, it is just a sucker that did it.' This was a three year project."
