Interpretative Labels

Label

"Looking at old embroideries from India inspired me to make this miniature quilt. I love the color and imagery I see in textiles from India, and am excited to show my version. My daughters, Emmy, has always collected little elephants, so I wanted to include some for her."

Label

"I have been making miniature quilts for several years. All my life I have enjoyed working on a small scale. I have tiny sweaters I knit for my dolls when I was about ten years old. The control and precision of sewing machines available today allows me to push the limits of how small I am able to do machine applique. I am drawn to the preciousness of miniature objects. I want the viewer to keep coming closer and closer to my creations and feel some of the wonder I have for this itty bitty world. I am still amazed and humbled that my miniatures are awarded such high honors and have great regard for the other wonderful miniature quiltmakers who work in such different methods."
