"My formal art training began at the Cranbrook Art Academy and I earned a secondary teaching degree in art education from Alma College and a MFA degree from Wayne University. Years of classroom activities with art students reinforced my ability to adapt many artistic skills and techniques. The stencil painted quilts of the 1820s fascinated me and dominated my quilting ventures. The stencil quilt is in a class of its own, special and different from the conventional pieced or patchwork quilt. Stencil quilts today reflect the grandeur of a bygone era. I take great pride in extending this 170-year old American style of quiltmaking to the 1990's through my own stencil quilts."
