"To make this quilt I cut flowers and leaves and laid these pieces on an off-white background with a layer of voile over them. Then, using strands of embroidery floss in a brighter color, I quilted the pieces in between the two layers. When all sections were finished, I sewed them together, added borders and quilted it again. This is an alternative to an appliquéd quilt but looks like appliqué for those who haven't mastered the art of appliqué. I feel I can get more detailed with this method than I can with appliqué. I have made several more quilts using this method and my designs have become more intricate and detailed."
