"It was the spring of 2005 that I decided to make miniatures, after counting 92 quilts in my home. I decided I didn't need another large quilt but I still loved the quilt process, so doing miniatures was he way to go. Making a miniature is the same as making a standard quilt, you still have to give thought to choosing a pattern or design, choosing fabric, piecing and quilting it, then embellishing it with crystals or piping. The time and money is also the same, if you take your time and do a good job. It can take time, and of course you want to purchase good quality fabrics and embellishments. This quilt is made with only two fabrics, black and the stripe. The fabrics were cut apart into strips, arranged from lights to darks, and then sewn into the pineapple pattern. The binding on this quilt is the stripe fabric cut on the bias so that viewers could see what I started with. The entire quilt is made of 25 blocks totaling 1,125 pieces. 480 crystals were added to display a secondary pattern."
