“Springtime Sampler incorporates blocks relating to springtime and family memories,” says Lois Smith. “The Washington Monument is typical of my geographic area, Washington, D.C. Family pictures are incorporated in the Crazy Patch block. The Courthouse Steps block symbolizes my lawyer husband. Many of the other blocks used were just for fun or blocks I made while teaching machine quiltmaking sampler classes. I have found that I am a much better teacher if I, too, am working on a quilt along with the students.”
