"Quilt making is not a part of my heritage. I'm a first generation American of English descent. We never had a quilt in our home in North Dakota and I don't recall neighbors having them either. In 1972, I retired after thirty years as a registered nurse. My husband was talking about building us a new house and our color scheme would change and I needed a new bedspread. I decided to make a quilt! In 1978, I discovered the wonderful world of quilting--via classes, guilds, publication, shows, workshops and contests. It has been a most interesting and fulfilling hobby for me. I prefer piecework over appliqué or design. I piece and quilt by hand because the results please me more than my machine work."
