"Terrarium was the third in a series of quilts that was inspired by Russian Folk art, particularly in its border designs. The terrarium itself superimposes appliqué on the background fabric that inspired it. I’ve always been intrigued by the patterns made by shadows against my backyard fences, as well as interested in natural cycles. This quilt shows both day and dusk at once and it reflects one of my favorite themes – flowers."
