Margaret Rudd, treasurer of the Trigg County Quilter's Guild in Cadiz Kentucky, said "Four of us who are members of the Guild were en route home from the 1985 American Quilter's Society show when one suggested that the Guild make a quilt for the next AQS show. The suggestion was treated as a joke at first. As the discussion progressed, the challenge was evident. Why not? During the months of construction the quilt became known as 'the show quilt' and the 'for-keeps quilt.' Thirty-five individuals worked between 1,200 and 1,300 hours piecing the quilt."
