"'Tulip Star' was inspired by a quilt made by Jill Majers that was pictured in 'Miniature Quilts Magazine' (issue #53), and I started it in probably 2002."

"I love the challenge of making something very small. I have always liked to do things that require small tedious detail. It's really fun to try and figure out how to physically accomplish the goals I have in mind for each little quilt. When I finish a miniature quilt it always seems like I have created a little quilted treasure."

From "American Quilter" magazine, July 2011: Lynne was inspired by a miniature pattern called "Springburst," but she reduced the size, changed the colors, and added an original border to create her own version. A quilt of such small size requires diminutive elements and meticulous workmanship to execute them. The pieced Tulip blocks measure 1 1/2", the diamonds are 1/2", and the hand-appliquéd tulips in the border are 1/2" with 11/16" stems. The combination of prints and solids in the radiating eight-pointed star design makes the perfectly pieced sharp points pop. Lynne echoed the tulip theme in her machine quilting with the flowers on point in the four background corners. a 1/8" binding of coordinating print frames this work of near perfection.
