"For me the most difficult thing about quiltmaking is coming up with an idea. In this case the idea came from my wife Sherry, a talented physician.
The design for Wisteria is from a stained glass window by Louis Comfort Tiffany titled Snowball and Wisteria circa 1907. I first drew the design on small paper, then had copies made that were the actual size of the quilt. I then made all the appliqué pieces, searching hand-dyed fabric for just the right colors and turning the edges under as perfectly as possible. Once all the appliqué pieces were made, I machine appliquéd them to the black background.
Quilting for me is a road. One filled with many choices and many ways to achieve a goal. Quilting has shown me how much my family loves me and wants only the best for me. It’s just like life. Thank God for quilting
and quilters.”
