Description

This is a coloured postcard of the North Bay Post Office on Main and Fraser Sts. This is a two-storey red and white brick building built in the early 1900s. The front consisits of 5 large windows and an arched doorway. There is a design of white inlaid brickwork surrounds the two lower windows on each side of the doorway, and the arched overhead of the doorframe. The four corners of the building are columns of white brick, as are each side of the doorway. Which has two round columns running to the roof edge on each side, over which is a triangle and oblong tiered brick section to ornate the front of the building. There are seven steps with a iron handrail lead to the door. A cornice railing surrounds the roof with another triangle centering the side wall. 5 windows across the second floor and 4 long windows with a door on this left side. A small 2 storey brick building known to many as Richardson's Hardware. Across the top of the card is printed The Post Office, North Bay, Ontario, Canada. The number 109882 <j v> is in the lower right corner. Over doorway and under the triangle is printed in stone, Post Office AD 1900. in Black printing.
