Description
Photographer's Envelope (a) contains negatives (b-ao) of the Winter Fur Carnival in North Bay, ON in February of 1973.
- Negative (b) similar setting as (aa), this time we see a racer and his sled take off.
- Negative (c) shows a number of rally cars driving through the muddy track, passing through the Start/Finish sign.
- Negative (d) shows a bubble helicopter taking off.
- Negative (e) taken of a husky. We see other dogs and people in the shot as well.
- Negative (f) shows a man with a hatchet hacking away at logs in order to trim them and place them together to build a log box, similar to the log placements in log cabins/homes. Group of people watching him.
- Negative (g) same setting as (f), different placements.
- Negative (h) shows a large group of people standing outside by a shack. The shack has a moose head mounted to it, and many chrismas trees can also be seen.
- Negative (i) same as (h).
- Negative (j) shows a man falling towards the ground in his parachute.
- Negative (k) shows two (2) kids getting horse back rides led by a guide. We also seee a sign that reads: "Northland Rodeo".
- Negative (l) shows a large crowd of people at the carnaval. We see again the man fallng with his parachute in the sky.
- Negative (m) shows Duke the toque maskcott walking next to some kids.
- Negative (n) shows two (2) bubble helicopters taking off.
- Negative (o) shows the old N.B.F.D. Bickle fire truck in the parade with people being paraded in it. The Mascott is also in the truck.
- Negative (p) shows once more the setting of the start/finish area of the Dog Sled Derby.
- Negative (q) shows a zoomed in shot of the man parachuting towards the ground.
- Negative (r) shows a Husky posing behind his handlers sled.
- Negative (s) shows a person on a motorbike going through the mud track.
- Negative (t) shows a flatbed transport pulling a parade float. The sign along the side of the float reads "Disneyland North". Plenty of different props on the float, as well as a person in an elephant costum walking along it.
- Negative (u) same as (ah).
- Negative (v) similar to (ah).
- Negative (w) shows older truck pulling a parade float through the parade. Signs on the float read: "Astroville Sports" and "Trappeur D'Astroville". Float resembling lumberjacks and people living in the bush. "Trappeurs"
- Negative (x) shows a Gray Coach bus going through the parade.
- Negative (y) shows a transport pulling a float through the parade. This float focuses on Callander in 1900.
- Negative (z) same as (ah).
- Negative (aa) shows a large group of people close to the start / finish area of the dog sled derby. We can see a broadcasting van, a few dog sleds, as well as a sign that reads: "Towers International Dog Sled Derby North Bay Winter Fur Carnaval".
- Negative (ab) shows a muddy rally car driving past the Start/Finish line, with some people around the track watching.
- Negative (ac) shows shows two rally cars going through the track, this time we see one of them went over the edges a little bit.
- Negative (ad) shows a pick up truck with a plow on the front going through the parade. This truck has two moose heads mounted to the plow, as well as a giant lumberjack statue in the back of the truck. Plenty of pedestrians line the streets to see the parade.
- Negative (ae) shows similar setting as to (aa), this time the photographer is not on the track and is on the outside. We have a better view of the immense crowd joining the event, as well as a large tent in the background.
- Negative (af) nearly identical to (ae), this time the camera panned to the left a little bit.
- Negative (ag) similar to (aa) once more, this time the photographer changed his angle a little bit.
- Negative (ah) similar to (aa) once again, this time the main difference is we can see a racer taking off with his dog sled.
- Negative (ai) shows racer 703 returning to the finish line with his dog sled.
- Negative (aj) shows three (3) sled dogs that are huddled up together, tied up to what seems to be their transport vehicle.
- Negative (ak) shows once more showing some racers with their dog sled, large crowd on the outside watching. We also see a man standing in the track with the checkered finish line flag.
- Negative (al) nearly identical setting as (ah).
- Negative (am) similar to (ai), different racer.
- Negative (an) shows a flat bed transport carrying a float through the parade. The float has signs reading: "North Bay Widdifield, West Ferris, Callander, Mattawa." Float also seems suported by the Lions Club as well as ONR. Man in apolar bear costum as well on the float.
- Negative (ao) shows another flat bed transport carrying a float. This time the float is decorated to resemble the North Pole with nothing but a sheet of ice, a large polar bear and other props. Sign on the float reads: CFB North Bay Canadian ____".
- Negative (ap) shows a mix of people and dogs walking around cars, presumably the parking lot.
- Negative (aq) shows pedestrians standing outside the Dog Sled Derby fence watching intensly. Photo taken from further out.
- Negative (ar) same angle from the photographer, this time zoomed in a little more. Focus of the shot is on the racer and his dog sled.
- Negative (as) shows a man with a hand saw carving up logs to create a large log box. Similar construction methods as a log house/cabin.
- Negative (at) similar setting as (ag).
- Negative (au) almost identical to (am).
- Negative (av) shows a racer on her sled with her dogs. A line up of snowmobiles are seen in the background.
- Negative (aw) similar to (ah).
- Negative (ax) shows a float going through the parade. Not easy to make out what the float is, but seems to be holding mainly cartoonish props. People walking alongside the float as well as people lined up the sidewalk watching.
