Description
Photographer's Envelope (a) contains the photographs and negatives (b-z) of the Arcadan Restaurant and Sayas Drug Store fire in North Bay, on November 30, 1957.
Photograph (b) shows a fireman sraying down the Arcadian Restaurant while a large crowd looks on. Belongs with negative (d).
Photograph (c) shows a large part of the Arcadian Restaurant reduced to rubble, lots of smoke/dust coming from debris. Belongs with negative (e).
Photograph (f) shows the pile of debris with a large amount of ice build up on top due to the sprayed water. Belongs with negative (h). Photograph (g) shows the pile of debris with ice from further away, with a group of people in front. Belongs with negative (i).
Photograph (j) similar to photo (b), slightly different angle. Belongs with negative (k).
Photograph (l) shows a fireman walking past the pile of smoking debris from Acadian Restaurant. Belongs to negative (m).
Photograph (n) shows two firemen spraying water through a doorway into the restaurant. Belongs with negative (o). Photograph (p) shows two firemen spraying water from the street at the base of the restaurant. Lots of smoke coming from fire. Belongs with negative (q). Photograph (r) similar to photo (f) from different angle. Belongs with negative (t).
Negative (s) shows the debris from the aftermath, taken from a far away angle. Negative (u) shows a fireman walking past debris and smoke from restaurant.
Negative (v) shows the front facing wall of the drug store, with the inside clearly destroyed. Negative (w) is oversized, shows fire truck and large number of firemen on the stret, next to the restaurant. Negative (x) oversized, shows a fireman up on the tip of the trucks ladder, nearing the roof of restaurant.
Negative (y) oversized, shows firemen standing next to pile of debris.
Negative (z) oversized, similar to (x) from a different angle, with no fireman on ladder. A part of the Forder Collection.
