Description
Envelope (a) contains pictures and negatives (b-r) of the Imperial Oil Warehouse Fire in North Bay on May 30, 1950.
The fire occured while a tank car, containing 8,400 gallons of gasoline was being emptied. The fire cause $150,000 in damages. Warehouse contained gasoline, rubber tire, and industrial oils. Information found in envelope.
(b/c) Contains two negatives, photo taken from the road, both showing large amounts of smoke bellowing from the warehouse. Seen through trees. (d/e) Contains two negatives as well, both showing the smoke from the fire, pictures taken from different angles. (f/g) Contains two negatives, pictures taken from the train tracks next to warehouse. Negatives show smoke form fire, as well as large Shell gasoline containers outsde. (h/i) Contains two negatives, which seem to be taken from a field next to the fire Once more the negatives show large amounts of smoke from the fire. (j/k) Contains two negatives, taken from close up to the fire. You can see lots of smoke, as well as people standing in front of the camera looking at the fire, with a fireman spraying water at the fire. (l/m) Contains two negatives of the smoke from the fire. (l) shows a line up of fire dept. vehicle. Picture (n) is the print of (b). Picture (o) is print of (g). Picture (p) is print of (c). Picture (q) is print of (d). Picture (r) is print from (e).
