Description
Second World War photograph, apparently in winter 1941-1942, as
the Royal Air Force flying school facilities haven't been built. Plus the aircraft closest
to the hangar--which belonged to Trans-Canada Air Lines--is a Lockheed Hudson.
American-built, it was a military version of an airliner. The Royal Canadian Air Force
used them to patrol the ocean off Canada's coast for German U-boats (submarines)
and attack these when spotted. When the RAF built its flying school, it also used
Lockheed Hudsons to train its students. Information provided by Captain Doug Newman.Creator
